If the thought of certain procedures makes you feel concerned and nervous then sedation for dental treatment may be the solution.

Our friendly team will take as much time as you need to discuss your options and make sure you fully understand and are happy with your treatment plan. Dental treatment under sedation can be used for an array of situations, from patients who need a little extra help to nervous patients.

For nervous patients, inhalation sedation – using dental gas and air treatment – or conscious/IV sedation can be used to induce a state of ‘deep calm’. This allows nervous patients the opportunity to have the treatment they need and achieve the smile they desire.

Dentist Sedation Options

We offer two options for sedation and relaxation for dental treatment:

Conscious or IV Sedation Dentistry

IV sedation is a very effective and safe way of treating those with moderate to severe anxiety and even phobia. This technique involves the use of a small cannula (needle) placed in the back of the hand or the arm through which a sedative is administered prior to treatment.

As a patient you are awake for the entire procedure but will experience an extremely relaxed state, to the point of drowsiness. IV sedation is not intended to put you to sleep or make you unconscious like a general anesthetic, you simply feel very relaxed and oblivious to your surroundings.

Inhalation Sedation Dentist

Inhalation sedation is also known as dental gas and air treatment. Inhalation sedation is suitable for mild to moderate or severe anxiety in both adults and children. This technique involves the administration of ‘gas’ through a small mask fitted over the nose.

Within just a few minutes you will start to experience an euphoric feeling whilst being quite comfortable at the thought of any dental treatment. This is a very safe technique which also has the added bonus of offering pain relief.
