What can you eat with Invisalign?

Our guide to Invisalign treatment

Invisalign treatment plans involve wearing a series of clear plastic aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. As proud providers of Invisalign, we can see that there is a wide range of benefits to choosing them as your teeth straightening treatment. Invisalign works in a similar way to traditional braces but, instead, you can achieve your dream smile without impacting your looks with unsightly train track braces in the meantime.

Here at The Town House Dental Practice, our experienced team look forward to providing you with the award-winning treatment that is Invisalign. Our knowledgeable clinicians specialise in complete smile makeovers and are able to provide you with a tailored Invisalign treatment plan.

We understand that before beginning your Invisalign journey, you may have some questions. Our team have put together everything you need to know within this Invisalign treatment guide, including what you can eat with Invisalign and whether they are a better alternative to braces.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is truly a state-of-the-art treatment option for those that wish to straighten their teeth. The series of clear plastic aligners work by gradually straightening your teeth over a period of time. They can close any gaps you have, realign crooked teeth and amend overbites and underbites. Although they work in a similar way to traditional braces, with Invisalign you can achieve your dream smile without any dietary restrictions or wires.

Our professional team would recommend Invisalign to those that wish to keep their teeth straightening journey private. The clear aligners are discreet and unnoticeable as they are less than one millimetre thick.

What should I expect from my Invisalign appointment?

First, you’ll visit our Tunbridge Wells practice to discuss the results you’d like to achieve from your teeth straightening treatment. After your treatment plan has been discussed, our experienced dentists will use 3D computer imaging technology to create an image of the dream smile you’d like to achieve after your treatment. Once you have agreed on the final image, the Invisalign laboratory will create your bespoke aligners. Every two weeks you will switch aligners to ensure that they are gradually moving your teeth into the desired position.

Which is better – Invisalign or braces?

Invisalign is similar to traditional braces in the sense that they are able to correct bite issues and alter gaps between the teeth. However, Invisalign is a lot more discreet. As the treatment is tailored to your individual smile, the clear aligners will fit comfortably over your teeth. They are specifically designed to be comfortable and less intrusive than traditional braces.

Invisalign is incredibly universal and is suitable for most of our patients. Our dentists will take the time to discuss all of the treatment options available and suitable for you. If Invisalign is not the right treatment plan for you, we will be able to recommend something more suitable to help you achieve your dream smile.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

There are many benefits to choosing an Invisalign treatment plan. Discreet and easily removable, Invisalign allows you to enhance your smile whilst still feeling confident in your appearance. Nobody will be able to tell that you are wearing the aligners unless you tell them.

As the clear aligners are moulded to suit your exact mouth and smile, you should experience little to no discomfort. Results can be achieved in as little as six months depending on your treatment plan and your exact desired results. Your progress can easily be monitored first-hand, with the results appearing noticeably within your mouth.

Our experienced clinicians will continue to monitor your progress throughout your Invisalign journey, ensuring that you are up-to-date with the transformation of your smile. We are always available if you have any questions about the treatment process.

What can you eat with Invisalign?

One of the main benefits of Invisalign is that there are no dietary restrictions. Although our dentists would always recommend sticking to a healthy diet, Invisalign has no restrictions over the types of food that you eat. You must remove your clear aligners before eating, and clean them regularly, to avoid stains or the food getting stuck. Debris can quickly accumulate within the aligners and put you at risk of tooth decay.
